Someone is Learning How to Crochet

And not doing a very good job of it.

I think I might rip this out and try it as double crochet instead of single crochet.
And count when I'm doing it, because I think my edges are a bit wonky. It doesn't look as if I am still crocheting the same amount with which I cast on (33).

I'm making a square for our Warm-up America! afghans. Or at least I'm trying to.
But I'm still waiting for the moment when the crochet goes faster than the knitting.
Will that be coming soon?

Yeah! What a great skill you're learning. I hear you on the speed. I am so slow on crochet - but I am eager to master this skill. I especially like blankets and baby clothes that are beautifully finished with crochet edges. That's enough enticement for me to learn this craft.

Someone in my bookclub tried to teach me how to crochet, but I didn't get it. It was too noisy in the coffee shop. I need to try again in a quiet spot because I really want to learn.

Oh yay! You are doing crochet! (That rhymes you know). Okay, first of all... crocheters do not "cast on", we "make chains". Also -- go to youtube.com and type in "crochet" and there are actually instructional videos that are easy to follow. That helps.

Crochet and knitting are ... well... different. In crochet, you add height and rows at the same time. Its a different mindset.

Keep at it, you'll do great :)
